Carter G. Woodson School Instructional Services Component provides instructional leadership for regular and compensatory education for all students from kindergarten through high school.
The Instructional Services Component uses scientifically based school reform and instructional models such as, a) Success For All, b) Effective Schools, c) Renaissance Learning, and d) Reading and Math Together using experienced and seasoned Instructional Coaches. The models have five main areas of concentration as listed below:
1) Curriculum Standards, Development, and Implementation
This component monitors the overall instructional program by evaluating programs and student achievement data and by preparing reports and documents for the NC Department of Public Instruction and other groups and agencies.
2) Curriculum Support and Materials
Supporting instructional programs, which are already in place, by updating staff knowledge and skills regarding the curriculum and giving in-depth training to administrators and selected teachers so that they can provide instructional leadership in the schools.
3) Individual School Support
Directly assisting schools to help them implement execute their school plans, solve problems, and enhance instruction for students
4) Staff Training and Instructional Delivery
Promoting a high-performance FCPS work force with the expertise and ability to effectively implement instruction in the classroom. Provides courses, workshops, and other training, which enhances their arsenal of teaching strategies to implement special programs such as Success For All, Renaissance Learning, and Reading Together.
5) Direct Program Delivery and Management
Operates a number of programs which directly involve students such as the high school the Online Campus, as well as provide management for instructional
